With 12 years experience as an educator and three years as a writing tutor, research played a large role in my teaching and tutoring. And so, anything written is thoroughly supported by credible sources properly vetted by me before use. Plus, I possess unique researching skills; I can find anything and will gleefully go down any rabbit hole (writing samples below).
Experience in this field include employment at General Dynamics Electric Boat as a security-cleared technical writer of SOPs for Navy submarines. Clarity of instructions and the logic behind the instructions was of great concern to me as a writer. This experience was used in future positions as a technical writer/editor when working with SMEs and stakeholders for companies such as Apple, Amazon Web Services and The Walt Disney Company.
Additionally, I have the ability to take any complex technical content and simplify it for better understanding (writing sample below).
As a communication major in undergrad, my focus was scriptwriting for radio. I was mentored by a communication professor who worked with me to develop my writing. Two scripts I wrote have been performed on air and on stage. For my lecture videos, I wrote and recorded scripts for my course content. Experience in this field is limited to one important, successful event: My filing of a Freedom of Information Commission complaint against a public agency, which was ruled in my favor. I began proofreading for a small advertising agency in Connecticut in 2010 and have worked as a freelance proofreader ever since (editing/proofreading generic samples below).
Ghostwriting for romance magazines is how I got my start in writing. Since then, I have received freelance blog and ghostwriting jobs on occasion, one was for WTHN Channel News 8 in New Haven, Connecticut (writing samples below).
